Global Node Changer

The Global Node Changer lets you enable/disable nodes and update knob values by node classes. This helps you to speed up render times for quick preview renderings in situations where you don’t require final render quality. Once you are ready, you can turn the nodes and knobs back to their original state. This workflow results in quicker turnarounds and lets you deliver faster.

When updating nodes and knobs using the Global Node Changer you can decide to update per node class for all nodes in your working file or just the current node selection.

You can launch the Global Node Changer via the menu bar: cragl -> smartRender -> global node changer and via the ShortCut: Shift+D

The Global Node Changer is divided into two sections - The node section and the knob section.

Node section

The node section on the left shows you a table of nodes to enable/disable in your node graph. To add a new node class click the Plus button and add the node class of your choice. A dropdown menu shows you all node classes in your current working file. Node classes added to the node section list get stored persistently.

  • Each node class is represented in a row. On the left (1) you see the node class name.

  • To enable/disable a certain node class click the state toggle (2).

  • Click the previous (3) and next (4) buttons to navigate to the previous/next node of that class inside your node graph.

  • Click the Remove button (5) to remove that node class from the nodes list.

Tip: When changing the state of a certain node class use either the ‘All’ mode or ‘Selection’, depending on your needs. ‘All’ will update the state of all nodes with that node class, ‘Selection’ will just change the node class of your current selection.

Knob section

The right section lets you change knob values of certain nodes.

To add a new knob click the Plus button.

Tip

You can drive knob values by name for all nodes or by name for a certain node class. E.g. entering size lets you drive all nodes with such a size knob. You can however also notate with the node name, e.g. Blur.size to drive only size knobs of Blur noder while keeping size knobs of other nodes (e.g. Median, Glow, etc.) untouched.
